The Security 101® – Gift of Security online voting period begins at 12:00 a.m. EST on November 25, 2021, and you may cast your vote(s) for one of the elected nonprofit organizations listed in the voting module here, where all votes will be collected and stored. An individual will be allowed to cast one vote every 24 hours during the voting period which will last until midnight EST on December 10, 2021. Please note that in the event a duplicate vote is successfully made within the same 24-hour period, it shall be deemed invalid and will not be included in the final count.
Boys & Girls Clubs of the Virginia Peninsula, a not-for-profit, 501 (c)3, serves youth on the Virginia Peninsula and surrounding communities. We provide boys and girls with an inclusive and safe place to learn and grow, foster ongoing relationships with caring adult professionals, and offer life-enhancing programs and character development experiences. We prepare them for their futures with career goals, and we give them hope and opportunity in their present lives. Our locations across the Peninsula in the City of Newport News, City of Hampton, and the counties of York, James City, Gloucester, and Mathews give youth in multiple communities access to a Club. Our mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens. Our Greater Hampton Roads site is in need of a security system to keep our staff and children safe. Your vote will have an impact on not only our current members but for generations who follow.
Sullivan House is a non-profit 501 (C) 3 serving low-income senior citizens in Virginia Beach and the Tidewater area. We provide independent housing for 133 residents in a caring apartment community. We offer fair housing, non-discriminating environment for low-income seniors to live productive, independent lives. We afford them the opportunity to live a dignified lifestyle while supporting one another. Sullivan House is in need of a security system for the parking lot and front of the buildings to ensure the safety of all residents. Your vote can help keep the vulnerable seniors of our community safe!
Shining Light Homes, a 501(c)3 public charity, meets the immediate needs of isolated 18-25-year-old women who are pregnant or mothers with toddler-age children that are experiencing difficult times. Many of them find themselves homeless either during their pregnancy or just afterward. These young women have little support from their family or the father of the baby and struggle to acquire basic needs. The goal of Shining Light Homes is to be an Advocate for struggling single mothers. We connect them to available resources and provide education, counseling, goal setting, and other life skills that will help these young mothers become self-sufficient and productive citizens in their community. it is our desire to move these young women from homelessness to a home of their own.
