Every branch of our nation’s military call Hampton Roads home: the Navy boasts the largest presence with bases stretching from Virginia Beach, through Norfolk and Chesapeake, to Portsmouth, then north to Yorktown; the Army has a presence in both Virginia Beach and Newport News; and the Air Force calls Hampton home. Our Marines are located at all of the Navy bases, and the Coast Guard has locations all along our coast. The Historic Triangle is also here, encompassing Jamestown, Williamsburg, and Yorktown. Tourists visit year-round to discover our nation’s early sites and tackle the roller coasters of Busch Gardens as well. Virginia Beach boasts 29 miles of white sand coastline and there are numerous museums in our area, from wildlife, to art, children’s, and maritime history.
