Project Manager

Position overview:

Plans, organizes, directs, and controls project activities required for effective management of electronic security installation projects. Supervises installation and sub-contractors. Estimates and prices job charges. Works with financial, contract management and other management reports and tools to define project problems to assure project profitability. Responsible for training and developing employees as well as responsible for the quality of installation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plans and schedules engineering, installation, and sub-contracting activities on large and/or complex systems, or service installed jobs
  • Maintains current job plans and specifications
  • Works with engineering department on design and drafting phases of jobs
  • Coordinates the procurement of materials, supplies and services and controls timely delivery to job site
  • Prepares the project installation plan, manages the plan and prepares and implements job procedures
  • Determines, from review of various information, necessary changes in design, contract price, installation plan or other activity and implements same
  • Maintains construction schedule and coordinates task scheduling with other trades
  • Selects and monitors the performance of sub-contractors
  • Keeps self, superiors and subordinates informed of progress
  • Maintains all records of job status, job changes, material flow and other control records and supervises the preparation and processing of reports for internal and external use
  • May estimate or assist in estimating projects which the company is bidding
  • Implements quality assurance program to continuously improve customer satisfaction
  • Present a professional image of company when speaking to customers (all levels)
  • Develops a relationship with the decision maker of our customer
  • Routinely walks job site to ensure quality installation of company products
  • Responsible for customer satisfaction on projects
  • Monitors job status and controls job costs
  • Provides information to determine labor and material requirements on a monthly basis
  • Assists management in monthly forecasting
  • Ensures proper job management and cost control by reviewing financial statements
  • Supervises the preparation of base data required for monthly job billing
  • Monitors financial and other reports and works with other management tools to define project problems
  • Ensures time cards are accurately filled out, complete with job numbers, and phase codes. Times add up, hours are correct, time card is signed and turned in every Monday to the operations AA
  • Devises a plan of action to remedy the problem and implements plan; all to assure project profitability
Training and Development:
  • Studies literature and attends seminars to stay current with regards to products, processes and materials
  • Works with installers on security concepts, ISN and installation procedures and product training for their advancement
Job Closure:
  • Responsible for completing As-Builds
  • Responsible for completing all paperwork, PO’s are completed, notice of completions. (NOC) is sent, and jobs are turned over to service
  • Job close out report is completed
Supervisory Duties:

In accordance with applicable Security 101 policies/procedures and Federal/State laws, may perform the following supervisory responsibilities: Interviewing, hiring orienting and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; coaching and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Supervises:

  • Installers
  • Sub-Contractors
Minimum qualifications:

The following are the minimum qualifications an individual needs in order to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this position. Please note that the minimum qualifications may vary based upon the department size and/or geographic location.

  • High School education or equivalent
  • Associates degree (2 year) or Bachelor degree (4 year) in a technical capacity is desirable
  • Five years of experience in the engineering and installation of Electronic and Security Systems, or related field
  • Has a strong knowledge of engineering fundamentals, relay logic, PLC’s and operations
  • Good subcontracting skills required
  • An understanding of job financial reports, and the ability to control costs in the handling of large projects.

Lead Technician

Position Overview:

Lead Technician reports to the Project Manager. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: performing installation, startup and closeout of all jobs, coordinating and assigning activities and tasks to installers and apprentices, assisting Project Managers in design and other tasks as assigned by the Project Managers.

  • Coordinates and assigns daily activities and tasks to installers and apprentices
  • Tracks changes to the scope of work as requested by persons of authority on-site, such as the owner, construction manager, electrical superintendent, etc.… and pursues the documentation of such changes
  • Performs software installation and configuration for such systems as: video surveillance, access control and intrusion detection. Tests all systems prior to customer sign-off
  • Works with project managers to oversee installation of multiple crews to ensure jobs are on track and within budget
  • MA Electrician License Class D or B required
  • 2+ year working with industry specific equipment such as access control, CCTV, Network Knowledge
  • Proper hand and power tool operations and safety
  • Strong trouble shooting skills in access control and cctv
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills
  • Ability to complete projects
  • Strong customer skills
  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures
  • Acceptable driving and clear background check
  • Ability to function as an effective team member
  • A "can-do" attitude

Account Executive

Job Summary:

Security 101 – Detroit is now recruiting an Account Executive that can identify, qualify, and develop new customer opportunities by creating market awareness of Security 101 products and services. As an Outside Sales Representative in a B2B sales role, the ideal candidate will be actively seeking new business and building relationships with prospects while maintaining relationships and connections with their existing clients.

Salary and Benefits:

Compensation ranges from $100,000+, (with commissions, bonuses, and no earnings cap) commensurate with skills, security industry experience, and product knowledge. You also benefit from a generous commission plan with no earnings cap. We will also provide you with a cell phone, laptop, and an auto allowance. Our benefits include medical, dental, vision, prescription coverage, 401(k) plan, paid holidays, PTO and more.

The Right Candidate:
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of outside B2B consultative sales experience. Electronic security industry knowledge preferred.

  • Enthusiastic about being able to earn 6 figures with no commission caps.
  • Conducts customer site walk-through’s and estimates both building system installations and service opportunities.

Service Technician

Job Summary:

Security 101 – Detroit metro is now recruiting for a Commercial Security Service Technician that has experience servicing commercial electronic security devices primarily CCTV, Access Control, IP Cameras, Intrusion Detection, Video Analytics, IP network systems and overall security systems. Salary and Benefits:

Hourly wage varies from $25.00 to $32.00, non-exempt, commensurate with skills, product knowledge and experience. Our benefits include medical, dental, vision, prescription coverage, 401(k) plan, paid holidays, PTO and more. We will also provide you with a cell phone allowance, laptop, and work vehicle.

The Right Candidate:
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing commercial access control, IP-based video systems and intrusion alarm systems.
  • Must be process oriented, with good communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot customer systems via remote diagnostics with professionalism.
  • Knowledge and practical experience with IT and networking is essential.
  • Must be able to work independently and resolve problems to our customer’s satisfaction.
  • Must possess a valid driving license and clean MVR.

Current certification in one of the following is a plus:

  • Access Control: Honeywell, Avigilon, Software House, Lenel/S2, OpenPath platforms.
  • Video: Axis, Hanwha, Avigilon.
  • Alarm: Vista, DMP, Bosch.
  • Locking hardware, ASSA ABLOY, VonDuprin, Adams Rite, HES.
  • Security 101 will provide updated training for many different manufacturers and systems.

Servicing, and testing enterprise security systems with minimal supervision. System knowledge of CCTV, Access Control, IP Cameras, Intrusion Detection, Video Analytics, IP network systems, and visitor management, is preferred.

  • Troubleshooting and programming networked IP video systems.
  • Troubleshooting and programming networked access control.
  • Servicing commercial intrusion alarm systems and other IoT connected systems.
  • Providing fanatical customer service when dealing with customers.
  • High School (or GED) minimum requirement
  • Electronics training from a Technical School or Military training in electronics or communications is a plus.
