Minneapolis is the largest city by population in Minnesota, also known as the "Bread and Butter State". It contains 22 of the more than 10,000 lakes found in the state, including Lake of the Isles, Lake Vermilion, and Lake Itasca known to be the Mississippi River’s primary source. Founded in 1867 the “Twin Cities” of Minneapolis and state capital Saint Paul are dense with cultural landmarks like the Science Museum of Minnesota and the Walker Art Center. Just outside the city, the Mall of America is the biggest mall in the U.S and because Minnesota has no sales tax on apparel and accessories, this is a great place to go shopping. Beyond its immense forests and wilderness areas, Minnesota's known for its charming river towns, quaint historic Main Streets and culture-rich cities.
