President of Honeywell Security Products, Scott Harkins
Honeywell Security Products President, Scott Harkins addressed the media prior to opening day at ISC West in Las Vegas last week. He presented his opinions on the industry, which included challenges and opportunities and also discussed some of Honeywell's new product offerings.
Harkins touched on the video surveillance market, in which he states, "this market continues to push forward with IP technology, having achieved about third of the marketplace." He also makes mention of the access control market and that its "on the verge of it's first significant change in 10 years."
Some of the new products mentioned were Honeywell's new LYNX 5100 system with touchscreen, Total Connect 2.1, WiFi and Z Wave functionality for home automation.
Harkins also emphasized the need for dealers & integrators to focus on delivering total solutions to their clientele and stated, "end users don’t think in terms of video surveillance, access control and intrusion, they view it all as simply security."
